In my teens I was doing tequila and jello shots. Today I am trying to find the best organic produce for cold pressed fruit and veggie shots... Boy, does life change you!
 
Funnily enough I enjoy these little colourful immune boosters just as much as those other colourful headache monsters back in my college days. These are much gentler on your body, though... hangover-free, guaranteed.
 
Juicing has an array of health benefits - read more here - but it’s also very powerful. My Chinese medicine women has advised me not to have more than what you would consume in one serving/meal.
 
Please also keep in mind that variety is the spice of life: Rotate your greens, oranges and purples as often as you can to prevent build up of oxalic acid and to provide a balanced amount of different vitamins, minerals and enzymes to your body.
 
These small juice extracts are little powerhouse energy shots. I made them for breakfast when I had mums & kiddies come over and they went down really easy (except the green ones needed a little more convincing). The colour itself brings a vibrancy and fun element to the table.
 

 

INGREDIENTS

 

WARMING

carrot, ginger, orange

 

ANTIOXIDANT

beetroot, red apple

 

CHLOROPHYLL

celery, silverbeet, spinach, green apple

 

VITAMIN C BOOSTER

orange, grapefruit

 

 

 

METHOD

 

Wash fruit and vegetables and slowly press through your juicer. Start with lighter and similar colours so your juice is extraced bright and fresh.

 

Serve in small glasses and drink immediately. (As soon as your  juice gets exposed to air, its live enzymes begin to degrade, therefore decreasing the nutritional content.)
