TURMERIC LATTE

Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten free, Healthy Eating, Organic

INGREDIENTS

 

250 ml (1 cup) milk (almond, cow or of a young, fresh coconut)

1 tsp finely chopped turmeric

1 tsp finely chopped ginger

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp maple syrup or honey

1 tbsp vanilla essence

small pinch of black pepper and sea salt

 

METHOD

 

Combine turmeric, ginger, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla essence and sea salt in a high speed blender.

 

Heat almond milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until just simmering. (Careful not

to boil.)

 

Pour the hot almond milk into the blender and blitz everything until smooth and frothy.

 
During your morning coffee run you have probably come across some fancy new drinks called Turmeric, Matcha or Rooibos Latte.
 
Perhaps you are one of the more experimental creatures and tasted on of them. If you haven't - give them a go. All three have great health benefits and are significant in taste and colour. Matcha will still give you a caffeine hit, but Turmeric and Rooibos are a rich source of antioxidants and especially Turmeric (my favourite) is known as the golden spice in Ayurveda.
 
I think it's safe to trust a holisitic medicine system that's more than 4000 years old. Turmeric is Ayurvedas magic sword against inflammation. In Sanskrit, Turmeric has at least 53 different names including jayanti (one that wins over diseases).
 
Turmeric milk is a restorative drink to boost health and vitality. Also makes
a great soothing Betthupferl (nightcap) before bed.
